GRADING POLICY

BACK TO MAIN PAGE

My Philosophy of Teaching:

I believe that the class experience should build basic skills of reading, writing, researching, thinking, and dealing with others.  There will be at least one major group project every quarter and several group tasks every week.  Group work will be given a group grade.  I will select the groups so that they will be fair and effective.

I believe that reading and writing are important.  Each day we will read current events and write a journal response.  This will help the students to read better and write better.

We will write several essays that use documents from history (Document Based Essays).  This gives the students a chance to do hands on history.

Every day of class is important.  Responsible attendance, note taking, homework, and studying are the major responsibility of the student.  If students do not take this responsibility seriously, students will struggle.
